Book Beginnings on Friday

Book Beginnings on Friday is a new meme hosted by Becky at Page Turners. Anyone can participate; just share the opening sentence of your current read, making sure that you include the title and author so others know what you're reading. There's no button yet, but hopefully there will be one soon!

Okay, just the first sentence won't really work with this first sentence, so I'll do as short as will work, which is 4. Oops.

This is from Innocent by Scott Turow, which comes out May 4.

"A man is sitting on a bed. He is my father.
The body of a woman is beneath the covers. She was my mother."

I can't wait to get into this book!

That's a pretty good opener - I totally get that the first 4 sentences are the opener. Its a creepy start isn't it!

What a great idea for a meme! This sounds like a page-turner, just based on that one snippet. Does it get anymore arresting than that?

I'm on p 70 and am really liking it. It's been 20 years (in the book as well as in reality) from the events of Presumed Innocent, and Turow does a good job of reminding you of the old stuff without dumbing it down too much or adding too much exposition. I'm really looking forward to the weekend now!
