Book Beginnings on Friday

Book Beginnings on Friday is a meme hosted by Becky at Page Turners. Anyone can participate; just share the opening sentence of your current read, making sure that you include the title and author so others know what you're reading.

The Known World by Edward P. Jones
"The evening his master died he worked again well after he ended the day for the other adults, his own wife among them, and sent them back with hunger and tiredness to their cabins."
This book won the Pulitzer! I haven't read enough of those. Thanks book club!

Are you enjoying this one? I tried to read it a few years ago but just couldn't get into it.

I have to admit that I am always suspicious of books that win the pulitzer - i just never seem to enjoy them at all. This opening sentence is great though....
