Book Beginnings on Friday: The Bucolic Plague

Book Beginnings on Friday is a meme hosted by Katy from A Few More Pages. Anyone can participate; just share the opening sentence of your current read, making sure that you include the title and author so others know what you're reading.

The Bucolic Plague by Josh Kilmer-Purcell "The last time I saw 4 a.m., I was tottering home in high heels and a matted wig sipping from the tiny bottles of Absolut I always kept in my bag for emergencies." Well! That's not how you expect a book about farming to begin! As implied, this was a more than usually interesting armchair farmer memoir.

I wonder what the "emergency" was that makes her sip on her tiny bottles of Absolut?

Great Beginning! Here's mine: http://myreadersblock.blogspot.com/2011/04/book-beginnings-on-friday.html

An "emergency" in this situation was whenever the alcohol ran out. Thanks for the laugh though - it's a HE, not a SHE in this paragraph! Josh Kimer-Purcell used to be a drag queen. :)

What a great beginning! Love the image of tottering in high heels. I do that with or without consumption of Absolut! Here's mine for this Friday:

This book is definitely on my TBR - I love their show on Planet Green and find Josh in particular very funny!
