I'll be curious to see what you think of Caleb's Crossing. I do love Geraldine Brooks. Shogun! So many of my GoodReads friends love it, but I couldn't finish it. It wasn't that I thought it was bad, but after 400 pages I still wasn't hooked, so I gave up.

My aunt loaned me Rising Tide two years ago and I finally finished it, so I completely understand where you're coming from!
