Book Beginnings: The Little Stranger

Book Beginnings on Friday is a meme originally hosted by Katy from A Few More Pages but now hosted by Gilion at Rose City Reader. Anyone can participate; just share the opening sentence of your current read, making sure that you include the title and author so others know what you're reading.

The Little Stranger by Sarah Waters

"I first saw Hundreds Hall when I was ten years old."

I think this book is basically a haunted house story, so it makes sense to start right off with the house, before we even know who our narrator is. In a haunted house story, the house is arguably the most important character.

Ooh, I like books about houses and the fact that this one MAY be haunted makes it even better.

Hundreds Hall is quite a name for a haunted house. Does it have hundreds of ghosts?

Here's my Book Beginning.

Reminds me of a "haunted" house in the neighborhood where I grew up! Love the name Hundreds Hall too. This beginning definitely grabs.
My Book Beginning is from Memories.

I will look into this one. I've meant to read Sarah Waters.

I haven't read any of her books. I probably wouldn't start with one about a haunted house, since I am not a fan of anything scary.

Thanks for including your post in BBOF!
