Book Beginnings: Astonish Me

Book Beginnings on Friday is a meme hosted by Gilion at Rose City Reader. Anyone can participate; just share the opening sentence of your current read, making sure that you include the title and author so others know what you're reading.

Astonish Me by Maggie Shipstead

"In the wings, behind a metal rack crowded with bundles of cable and silk flower garlands and the stringless lutes from Act 1, two black dachshunds lie in a basket."

You get a great idea in this book of what the ballet is like backstage.

Two dachshunds? Not what you'd expect to find in the wings! The book's opening made me curious. I'd also like to know more about ballet. Sounds like this is a book I'd enjoy.
My Friday post features HIDE IN PLAIN SIGHT.

From what I know of dachshund's I'm not sure I can picture them staying quiet or out of trouble for long. This sounds interesting! I love behind the scenes look.
