Teaser Tuesdays: Duel with the Devil

Teaser Tuesdays is hosted by Should Be Reading.

Grab your current read. Open to a random page. Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page. BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!) Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!

Duel with the Devil: The True Story of How Alexander Hamilton and Aaron Burr Teamed Up to Take on America's First Sensational Murder Mystery by Paul Collins p. 42

"'I guess she has gone to be married,' sighed Elizabeth. A rather scandalous theory, to be sure, but young women were known to resort to running off--particularly when decency demanded that they do so."

And in 1800, if a young woman didn't come home one night, she'd better come home married, or not bother to come home at all. That's a situation one's reputation can't recover from.

That sounds like fun! I usually enjoy historical novels using real people.

My TT this week is from The Lincoln Lawyer by Michael Connelly: http://wp.me/pZnGI-gb

It's actually nonfiction, but it kind of reads like a novel!

I've read several nonfiction historical books that were written in the style of fiction -- and I've enjoyed them all. (Isaac's Storm and The Devil in the White City come to mind.) This sounds like a great story.
My Tuesday post features TRAIL MIX.
