The American Heiress by Daisy Goodwin
Only in a place like Newport are people rich and eccentric enough for there to be someone actually called "the hummingbird man"!
"The visiting hour was almost over, so the hummingbird man encountered only the occasional carriage as he pushed his cart along the narrow strip of road between the mansions of Newport and the Atlantic Ocean."

I am currently reading this book and I like that the author starts the book off in Newport so that we can contrast that lifestyle of new money in the States with the aristocracy in England. It perfectly captures the values and excesses of that newly emerging class. I hope you are enjoying the book too.
I've never heard of a hummingbird man before.
This sentence seems to set up the novel quietly.
I've been wanting to read this one! Love the opener....and thanks for sharing.
Here's MY FRIDAY MEMES POST
This sounds interesting but what on earth is a hummingbird man? I'm tempted to read the book just to find out. Happy reading!
I'm intrigued!
Thanks for participating in Book Beginnings! Sorry I am slow this week to come by and visit your post.
