Book Beginnings on Friday is a meme hosted by Gilion at
Rose City Reader. Anyone can participate; just share the opening sentence of your current read, making sure that you include the title and author so others know what you're reading.
The Little Bookstore of Big Stone Gap: A Memoir of Friendship, Community, and the Uncommon Pleasure of a Good Book by Wendy Welch
"Three AM. Sleep was gone."
Okay, that's two sentences, but considering I still only have five words, I think it should be allowed. Sleeplessness seems normal when doing something crazy like starting up a bookstore in a small town in the midst of a recession.

Sounds like someone is really taking a chance.
And since Three AM isn't a sentence, I think stretching it is reasonable. :)
Thanks for posting on Book Beginnings on Fridays! Sorry I haven't been around for a while. This is the first Friday I am actually in town and at my computer in several weeks.
This sounds really good, and I agree that you deserved more words than just "Three AM".
You can't go wrong with books about books or bookstores - enjoy!
I almost always include more than one sentence.
This sounds like a good story to me. Although I don't read too many memoirs.
