

"They said the typewriter would unsex us."
This is an odd first line because that's really not what the book is about. Yes, Ruth and Odalie are both typists and that's how they meet, but this first line implies something like a feminist tome or something that would be very much about sex (which yes, is int he book, but it's not central.)

I'm definitely curious about this book. I spent a lot of years typing (and keying words into computers) so I imagine I could relate to the characters. Love the "typed" cover too.

That's an interesting first line. I'm curious to see how the line fits in when the book isn't particularly feminist. Plus the cover's great!
